We are so excited to host our annual Blackburn Love-a-Thon!
What's a Love-a-Thon? It's the one and done fundraising effort for our Blackburn PTA, a direct donation drive to support our students, our staff and our school.
Why a donation drive? The big reason is it raises more money for our school. Fundraising companies can take 50 percent of any product sales. With our Love-a-Thon, we get to keep all of your direct donations (minus the nominal fees for online processing, of course). It also requires far fewer volunteer hours. It's a wonderful way to respect our families' time and resources.
What will it fund?
- A new Kiln for Blackburn
- Student field trips
- Classroom supplies and needs
- Fall and winter classroom party and other PTA event supplies, food, and drinks
- Teacher and staff appreciation events, gifts, and meals
- ZERO additional direct fundraising requests from the PTA
What happens if we reach our goal? Our goal is $12,000. That’s huge ... but it works out to just an average of $29 raised per student. If we meet it, Principal King has graciously agreed to a FUN surprise for the kids.
Other Prizes? Our PTA works to be inclusive with our prizes. We do not want any child to be left out due to their family's ability or desire to donate. Most of our prizes are awarded by classroom and their total amount raised. It all goes into the same pot, so it's a team effort. Our individual fundraising prizes, of which we do have a few, actually go to that students' classroom. No student is left out because "winning" benefits everyone!
Classroom Prizes Awarded by Amount Raised
- Overall top fundraising classroom = Kickball game with Dr. King and Mr. Johnson
- $1,000 Raised = Pizza Party
- $500 Raised = Donut Party
- $100 Raised = Extra Recess
Our top three student fundraisers win $100 to help their teacher choose items for their classrooms, and our top teacher fundraiser wins $100 to spend on their classroom.
